In season two of the X-Files, an episode titled “The Host” features a human/fluke worm hybrid born out of radiation from the Chernobyl disaster. The creature escapes Russia by ship and ends up stalking the sewers of Newark, New Jersey. Scully is an eyewitness to this fluke man—a sight she can’t unsee, as much as she would like to. And fluke man was the first thing I thought of when I saw a post by Black Betty @BabyD1111229 on Twitter titled “Parasites are Demons.”

The post asserts that parasites which attach to human bodies (flukes, roundworms, fleas, ticks, bedbugs, etc.) can literally be malevolent spiritual entities that have manifested into the physical world. In other words, they are demons. Black Betty links to the author of these claims, one by the name of Electric Being, who asserts that parasitic organisms manifest all the symptoms of Demonic possession. A list of these symptoms include:

  • THEY HAVE POWER TO INFLUENCE YOUR MIND AND FILL IT WITH DESTRUCTIVE THOUGHTS.
  • THEY CAN HAVE AN INFLUENCE ON THE DREAM REALM
MANIFESTING AS SHADOW BEINGS DURING SLEEP PARALYSIS.
  • POSSESSION USUALLY INVOLVES BEING SICK AND CONSTANTLY TIRED.
  • YOUR SPIRITUAL POWERS & AMBITION BEGIN TO DIMINISH.
  • OVER EXTREME SEXUAL DESIRES THAT CAN NEVER BE FULFILLED.
  • MATERIAL & EGOTISTICAL DESIRES THAT END UP DRIVING THE PERSON POSSESSED MAD.

Parasites are nasty buggers. Technically, a parasite is an organism that lives off its host. The sad fact is everyone has parasites. Now, it is not the goal of the parasite to kill its host. Let’s face it, these creatures are not dumb. That would be like killing the goose that laid the golden eggs. But the fact that they are living inside of you means that your vitality is being drained. Toxic waste is discharged, pathogens spread and build up in your system. And they reproduce like crazy. The result is low energy and disease. As well, they can alter one’s mood and control behavior as well.

It’s beginning to sound a lot like demonic possession.

If you take a good look at these creatures, and many are microscopic, they have bazaar hooks and claws and downright evil feeding structures that literally suck the life force out of you. As an added bonus, they excrete a toxic slime that allows them to evade capture. The interesting thing about all this is that the author (Electric Being) associates these parasites to spiritual entities warned about in ancient religious texts the world over.

For instance in Gnosticism, Archons are evil entities of the sprit realm who rule over the material universe. Their goal is to keep souls enslaved and trapped in this physical realm. They are agents of the Demiurge and they use fear, manipulation and control to keep the divine spark in man from realizing his connection to the Pleroma.

Another example can be seen in Islamic theology which describes supernatural beings known as Djinn. Djinn are known for the ability to travel between dimensions, shape shift, influence thought and possess humans. The result is physical and psychological disturbances. Those thus afflicted are in need of Islamic rituals for exorcism.

Like demons, parasites can take possession of humans and lead them to unhealthy practices including altered dreams, extreme sexual desires and negative metal states. If you are skeptical of the role that parasites can play in your life, remember this tidy fact: “parasites have killed more humans than all wars in history.”
